Retrograde CTO Angioplasty
Retrograde CTO Angioplasty
The right coronary artery of the patient, who complained of a burning sensation in the chest and breathlessness, was completely blocked (the condition called “total occlusion (CTO)”) which caused infarction 2 years ago. It was impossible to open the artery using traditional methods, yet the artery was completely opened by using the method of retrograde CTO angioplasty. Unlike other known methods, in this method performed by Prof. Alfredo Galassi, occlusion was treated by entering via the left coronary artery and advancing to the right coronary artery through lateral branch.
