Job Description/Responsibilities
- My main function is as Consultant in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. I work full time, about 60 hours/week.
- As a Physician and Doctor of Internal Medicine, I treat and manage diseases and conditions that affect the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, urinary track, brain, spinal cord and other organs comprising the human biological system.
- In this hospital all the patients admitted are in the department of Internal Medicine except from the surgical and psychiatric patients of course. The rest of medical specialists (Gastroenterology, Pneumology, Neuroogy, Oncology, Cardiology,…) are for make specific tests. So I’m responsible for the patients admitted in the hospital and for the patients in the OPD. I treat patients with medical problems e.g. neurology, pneumology, rheumatology, cardiology, gastroenterology and infectious diseases.
- I ‘m also the head of Unit of Infectious Diseases. I treat HIV patients, patients with tuberculosis or hepatitis and all types of infectious diseases. I’m in the outpatient’s clinic 4 days a week, too, with the treatment and follow-up of the patients with infectious diseases.
- I coordinate with the doctors of the Emergency Unit to determine if the patients are necessary to be admitted or if they could be treated as follow-up outpatients.
- I’m also the primary Consultant between the hospital and a Health Center (General Practitioners) to determine and treat their patients’ medical problems.
- I’m the president of the “Committee of Infectious Diseases of the Hospital”
- At the moment, since about 5 years ago, I also treat and manage diseases of the liver. I manage and treat all types of liver’s pathology as viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and C virus infection, other hepatitis virus like cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr .. ), autoimmune hepatitis, toxic hepatitis, acute and chronic alcoholic liver disease, hepatic cirrhosis, …
- In this moment, our Unit of Infectious Diseases (we are three doctors in that unit) is the responsible in our hospital for the management and treatment of the hepatitis B and C virus infection, in patients with or without HIV. I have experience in start the treatment and in monitoring the efficacy and the side effects during all the treatment.
- I also have experience to make the test called Fibroscan (R) , to quantify hepatic fibrosis in a totally non-invasive manner alternative to liver biopsy

I supervised the patients during the session of haemodialysis, their weight, treatment, blood-test, etc.Observing, monitoring, and recording important signs during dialysis procedure, treatment.Assessing patients for any advance complications that occur during the dialysis procedure.Setting and operating hemodialysis device for the provision of dialysis treatment for kidney failure patients.Taking and recording patient’s pre-dialysis blood pressure, weight, temperature, respiration rate, and pulse rate.Inspecting arterial and venous pressures as recorded on machine to ensure that pressures are within standard limits.Explaining operation of machine and dialysis procedure to patient before dialysis treatment to relieve anxieties.
